A national football team beat Gibraltar 3-0 away in the fifth Group G European qualifying match for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
With the group’s third victory, the national team increased their score to 11 and continued their leadership. Gibraltar, on the other hand, failed to reach the points at the end of the fifth matches. The Netherlands and Norway each have 10 points in the group.
In the fight, whose first half ended in a 0-0 tie, the goals that brought the victory to the national team came from Halil Dervişoğlu, Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Kenan Karaman. Crescent star team Enes Ünal also missed out on a penalty shootout.
Turkey will play their sixth group game on September 7 away against the Netherlands.
3 CHANGES TO SENOL GÜNEŞ AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SECOND SEMESTER
Senol Güneş made three substitutions at the start of the second half as no goals were scored against Gibraltar in the first half. Taking Enes Ünal, Zeki Çelik and Taylan Antalyalı aside, Güneş pushed Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Halil Dervişoğlu and Kenan Karaman into the match.
Mert Müldür, who started the game at left-back after Zeki left, moved to right-back. Efecan Karaca also played left-back.
HAKAN CALHANOĞLU CHANGED THE GAME
Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who was included in the game at the start of the second half for the national team, has unlocked Gibraltar’s defense.
Hakan, who passed for Halil Dervişoğlu’s goal in the 54th minute, changed the game with the goal he scored in the 64th minute from outside the penalty area.
One of Hakan’s shots in the dying minutes came back from the post.
THE NATIONAL TEAM WINS AFTER 4 MATCHES
A national team won against Gibraltar and ended their desire for a 4-game victory.
After losing to Italy, Wales and Switzerland in the European Championship 2020 (EURO 2020) group matches, Turkey drew 2-2 against Montenegro in the qualifying group match for the World Cup.
The national team won their last victory before this match with a 2-0 result in the friendly against Moldova in Germany on 3 June.
HALIL DERVISOGLU SHOWS THE 2nd GOAL
Halil Dervişoğlu, who scored the national team’s first goal against Gibraltar, experienced the joy of scoring for the second time in Game 5 wearing the Crescent Star shirt.
Hakan Çalhanoğlu scored his 14th goal in his 61st game and Kenan Karaman scored his 6th in his 27th game.
