After the Federation separated from Güneş, he entered into negotiations with Okan Buruk.
The 47-year-old coach largely agreed.
Buruk, who was the administrative coordinator of the national team during Guus Hiddink’s tenure, became an assistant coach in November 2011 when Abdullah Avcı was appointed technical director.
Buruk, who has coached teams such as Elazigspor, Gaziantepspor, Sivasspor, Göztepe, Akhisar Belediyespor and Çaykur Rizespor during his career, won the Super League championship in the 2019-20 season with Istanbul club Başakşehir.
Buruk left Başakşehir in January 2021 by mutual agreement.
Okan Buruk played for Galatasaray, Beşiktaş and Inter, one of the best clubs in Italy, during his professional football career.
Şenol Güneş’s two-year spell in the national A team ended today, after the Netherlands were defeated 6-1 in the World Cup qualifiers.
Crescent and Stars will play their last 4 matches in the qualifying group in October and November.
