Mahmut Bozteke won the bronze medal in the men’s 61kg K44 taekwondo event on day nine of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

In competitions held at Makuhari Messe Sports Hall, Mahmut faced Italian Antonino Bossolo in the bronze medal match.

Mahmut won the match on the referee’s decision when he was 14-2 superior in the first round and earned a bronze medal.

The national athlete became the first person to bring a medal to Turkey in the taekwondo branch at the Paralympic Games.
