Galatasaray was St Johnstone’s guest in the UEFA Europa League third qualifying match.
In the second leg of the first match, which ended 1-1, the yellow-red players, deprived of Fernando Muslera, suspended with a red card, were on the pitch; İsmail Çipe, Boey, Luyindama, Marcao, van Aanholt, Taylan, Berkan, Kerem, Feghouli, Arda and Diagne participated with 11 of them.
Starting the match more efficiently, the yellow-red team took the lead 1-0 thanks to a goal from Mbaye Diagne in the 29th minute. The home side scored a draw for Christopher Kane in 36 and the first 45 minutes ended 1-1.
Retaining his superiority in the ball game in the second half, Galatasaray once again took the lead. Kerem Aktürkoğlu, who met the ball in the penalty area with Arda Turan’s pass, scored in the 64th minute with his shot in front of the goal: 1-2. Kerem Aktürkoğlu, one of the big names of the night, assisted Sofiane Feghouli’s goal 6 minutes later.
Fatih Terim’s students, who had the 3-1 advantage in the game, did not allow his opponent to catch him in the remaining section. Emre Kılınç’s 90 + 2 goal increased the lead to three, but 2 minutes later Michael O’Halloran made it 2-4.
By beating the Scottish side 4-2 away on the final whistle, Galatasaray came out on top in the UEFA Europa League play-offs. The Yellow-Reds will face Danish team Randers in this round.
The UEFA Europa League play-offs will take place on August 19 and 26.
