President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan speaks in front of the new service building of the Supreme Court of Appeal and the opening ceremony of the judicial year 2021-2022 in Ankara.

“We are determined to bring Ankara a courthouse worthy of its glory and its history,” Erdogan said.

Highlights of Erdogan’s statements:

July 15 is a turning point in terms of judicial culture as well as many aspects of the history of our democracy.

The most important lesson to be learned from the past is that the independence and impartiality of the judiciary and the rule of law are of vital importance.

We will continue our work until the putschists first, then the supervisory authorities, and finally FETO, erase the traces of the blows struck at the sense of justice of our nation.

In the new judicial year, we will accelerate our judicial reform efforts that will relieve both our judiciary and our nation.

The scientific, legal, reasonable, logical, constructive criticisms to be brought to judicial decisions do not hinder the judiciary, but on the contrary, support the development of the judicial power. Our reform strategy is based on our ideal of a free individual, a strong society and a more democratic Turkey.

We have not and will not subject concepts such as rights, law and human rights to a daily agenda or cheap politics.

With our 4th judicial package, released just before the judicial recess, we have strengthened the article on the fight against violence against women.

We have ended procedures such as holding in the middle of the night just to take statements.
