President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the collective opening ceremony of the Beştepe Dam water treatment plants.

Referring to the importance of water and water use in his speech here, Erdoğan said that they have implemented many projects that will guarantee water and food security in Turkey in 19 years.

“We are preparing a ‘water law’ in parliament in order to achieve our goals faster and prevent conflicts in water management,” Erdogan said.

Stating that they do not see a difference between protecting water and protecting the homeland, Erdoğan said, “We have invested 41 billion lire in water in the past 3 years. With a total investment of 277 billion lire, we wrote an epic by commissioning 600 dams, 423 ponds, 590 hydroelectric power stations, 1457 irrigation works and 262 drinking water works.

Explaining that water resources are dwindling due to climate change and therefore they are working harder to prevent water pollution, Erdoğan said: “We are meeting Ankara’s water needs until 2050 with the project that we are going to inaugurate “.
