Heavy monsoon rains hit the western city of Mumbai, the financial capital of India.
At least 30 people have died in landslides, building collapse and electrocution.
Transport services have been affected and many areas are reporting flooding.
The weather service issued a red alert, warning people of heavy rain over the next 24 hours.
Monsoon rains are normal in the coastal city at this time of year. But their intensity has increased in recent years, with the flood often killing people, flooding streets and homes and causing massive traffic jams.
