Tokyo 2020: Olympic athletes battle heat at Games

Temperatures in Japan have reached dangerously high levels affecting Olympic events and the athletes participating in them.

The Games are among the hottest in Olympic history, with many events having to be postponed early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the high temperatures.

The marathon and walking events, for example, took place 800 km north of Tokyo where the climate is slightly cooler.
